Asbestos is the greatest single cause of work related death in the UK. Asbestos regulations specifically The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012 (CAR2012), require all duty holders in non- residential premises to manage asbestos. Many of our customers are unsure how they can best manage their asbestos responsibilities; this is where Applecliff can help. Our team of experienced, knowledgeable and professional asbestos consultants are here to help.
Applecliff conduct two types of asbestos surveys in the South West Region. These Asbestos surveys fall within the categories "Management Survey" and a "Pre-Refurbishment / Demolition Survey". Both of these asbestos surveys are to establish whether any ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials) are present in a building or structure and equally the safest method of removal and disposal.
Our management asbestos surveys are the first step to producing your asbestos management plan, to assist you to adhere to the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR2012). The purpose of this survey is to locate the presence and extent of any Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) in the premises, where reasonably practicable, which could be knocked or damaged, or maybe disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable light maintenance and installations.
After the initial asbestos survey has been conducted, regular re-inspections can take place to continually monitor the condition of positively identified ACM's.
Similar to the management asbestos survey, but with destructive and intrusive surveying methods used, enabling us to give a true indication of the fabric of the building, locating materials which may be hidden within.
This type of survey is used to locate and describe, as far as reasonably practicable, all Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM's) in the area where refurbishment work will take place or the whole of the building if demolition is planned.
A refurbishment or demolition survey may also be required in circumstances such as when intrusive maintenance and repair work is to be carried out to specified areas within a building.
There is a duty under the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 to manage the asbestos in your non-domestic premises. This requires duty holders to: • Assess whether premises contain asbestos • Assess the risk from asbestos • Take action to manage the risk from asbestos. Applecliff Asbestos Control will identify your requirements to comply with Regulation 4 ('The Duty to Manage') of the CAR, which states that if you own, occupy, manage or have responsibility for a property which may contain asbestos.
